Why We Started The Slab Co. (Spoiler: It's Kind of the Fish's Fault)
People ask us how The Slab Co. got started, expecting some big business plan. Truth is, it started with a cooler, two lawn chairs, and a lot of arguing over whose crappie was actually a "dinner plate" and whose was just... a fish.
Drew's been chasing slabs since before he could legally drive a boat. I got pulled into it a little later — mostly for the peace and quiet, if we're honest, since peace and quiet are in short supply with three daughters and two dogs in the house. But somewhere between the ice shacks in January and the dock in July, fishing stopped being just Drew's thing and became our thing. Family trips. Muddy boots in the truck. Kids arguing about who gets to net the next one.
At some point we noticed we were all wearing the same three ratty fishing shirts on repeat, and none of them were actually about crappie fishing — just generic bass-boat stuff that didn't quite fit who we were. So we made a shirt. Then a hoodie. Then a hat, because apparently you can't stop at one.
The Slab Co. isn't really about the fish, even though the fish are a great excuse. It's about the version of us that shows up when we're on the water together — a little slower, a little goofier, and a lot less interested in our phones. If you're the kind of angler (or family) who knows a dinner plate when you see one, we made this for you.
Tight lines, Amanda & Drew
